FEMA's Manatee DRC closes Saturday

Manateee County, Florida -- Tomorrow, July 28 will be the last day residents can visit the FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center in Manatee County until 6 p.m.

The center is located at the Manatee County Convention Center at 1 Haben Blvd. in Palmetto.

Residents in Manatee who still need face-to-face help can visit the 3 remaining centers located in the Tampa Bay area.

Boys and Girls Club seeks donations for rummage sale

Bradenton, Florida -- The Bradenton Boys & Girls Club will hold a rummage sale on Saturday, July 14, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The goal of the fundraiser is $3,000, but to get there organizers say they still need donations.

They are looking for used items, such as bikes, toys, clothes, appliances, sports equipment, tools, or other household items.

The sale will take place at the club located at 1415 9th Street West.

Bradenton, Florida -- There is just one week left for local high school students to pre-register for free prom dresses and tuxedo rentals through the Manatee Education Foundation’s Prince Charming & Cinderella Project! 

Students need to pre-register prior to the annual Fitting Event which is scheduled for next Wednesday, March 28, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the school district's Professional Support Center, located at 2501 63rd Ave. E.

Bradenton, Florida -- The Bashaw Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization will hold a rummage sale on March 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All funds will go towards the school's Accelerated Reader program.

The online program allows students to receive immediate feedback on how they are comprehending the books they've read.

The Sarasota-Manatee Originals offer discounted dining certificates

Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota-Manatee Originals is offering over $33,000 in discounted dining certificates as of Thursday, March 8.

Executive director Kate Atkin said $50 certificates will sell for $35, $25 certificates will sell for $17.50 and $15 certificates will sell for $12.50.

Discounted dining certificates are available online at www.freshoriginals.com. The certificates can be printed and used immediately.

County to celebrate new educational gardens

Palmetto ― On Jan. 31, the Board of County Commissioners, the Mayor of Palmetto, and the Chamber of Commerce will be joining the Extension Service staff and the Master Gardeners for ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new site and to thank the many donors that made the site possible. 

The gardens demonstrate different ways for Manatee County residents to be more successful gardeners and to make their yards more Florida-friendly.
