New prices for 2014 at The South Florida Museum

Bradenton, Fl. - As you plan ahead for activities for your family in the new year, The South Florida Museum has made some changes to its pricing. 

On the first Saturday of most months, you can explore the Museum in a whole new way on Family Night! Get into the museum for half price after 4:00 p.m.

On Film Friday, the cost is $3 for museum members and $5 for the general public. You can go to the museum on most Fridays at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy movies!

Florida Maritime Museum reopens after month of renovations

Cortez, Florida - The Florida Maritime Museum is preparing to reopen!

For the last month, it's been undergoing some revamping and with a new month, comes new renovations!

You can see the changes at the grand opening on Saturday, October 5. You'll get a look at the completed children's room and scavenger hunt. The expansion will explore Florida's greater maritime history, while other sections focus more closely on the personal stories Cortez has to share.

Celebrate Snooty's 65th Birthday at South Florida Museum

Bradenton, Florida -- The South Florida Museum is celebrating Snooty's 65th birthday this weekend! He's an extra-special manatee who is setting records every day for how long manatees live. 

The Birthday Bash this Saturday will have lots of activities including food, children's games and activities, entertainment and wildlife awareness opportunities.  Visitors can learn about environmental preservation and interact with wildlife and arts organizations.

Bradenton, Florida -- Goodwill Manasota has teamed up with Computer Advantage to present a workshop offering useful information about operating the iPhone and Ipad.

Workshop instructor, Tim Brown, is an Apple product professional. He'll offer useful tips and information on troubleshooting, using the iCloud, extending battery time, adding apps, linking to email accounts and other useful information about using both devices.

It will be held on Thursday, June 6, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Goodwill North Trail Community Room, 5150 N Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.

Bradenton, Fl. - Flying saucers, UFOs, aliens and creepy creatures...can all be seen on the big screen at the South Florida Museum. On Friday, April 19, the new Film Fridays series "They Came From Outer Space" kicks off at the Bishop Planetarium Theater.

The series will explore how filmmakers have depicted the threat of little green men for decades.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.
