4th Annual 'Stuff the Bus' event this weekend

Bradenton, Florida -- This weekend, the Manatee County School District is asking for the public's help to Stuff the Bus for a fourth year and feed hungry children in the community.

The district says there are more than 2,000 children in the county school system that are homeless and unsure of how they are going to get their next meal.

The event will be held at all county Publix supermarkets from 9 a.m. until dark on Saturday, Nov. 17 and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m on Sunday, Nov. 18.

Students test innovation skills at model water tower competition

Bradenton, Florida -- More than 100 inventive middle and high school students will put their engineering talents on display this Saturday, Nov. 3, when Haile Middle School hosts the 10th Annual Model Water Tower Contest.

During the competition that starts at 9 a.m., teams of students will display miniature working water towers they designed and constructed for judges who evaluate them on how the models would fare in the real world.

Manatee County, FL-- Take Stock in Children of Manatee County (TSIC) announced the formation of a new nonprofit organization and new initiatives to provide expanded services and funding for students who wish to attend college on Friday. 

Community leaders lending their support are Honorary Chair Bill Galvano, School Board Vice Chair Karen Carpenter, and Elaine Graham, Chair of the newly formed nonprofit.

Middle School Soccer Championships Thursday

Bradenton, Florida -- The Manatee County School District's Middle School Soccer Championships will be held this Thursday, Oct. 25 at Palmetto High School.

The Girls Championship Game will begin at 6 p.m. between Haile Middle School and Nolan Middle. Haile fans and friends will sit in the North bleachers (the Palmetto High home side) and Nolan fans and friends will sit in the South bleachers.

Gettel Automotive awards over $6,000 to county teachers

Manatee County, Florida -- On Wednesday, Oct. 10, Gettel Automotive Group recognized 53 county teachers during a reception at its Gettel Toyota of Lakewood location.

One teacher from each school in the district was awarded $125, totaling over $6,600.

The Gettel Teacher Appreciation Awards will reward one teacher at every school in the district with a $125 cash award each quarter during the school year.
