County now accepting applications for Children’s Services Advisory Board

Manatee County, Florida -- Manatee County is accepting applications to fill four openings on the Children’s Services Advisory Board which advises and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on the priorities and expenditures of the County's funding source dedicated to children’s services.

The CSAB is comprised of 13 members who are appointed by the Commission to serve three-year terms. The following four positions are open:

Port Manatee signs international Sister Seaports agreement with Docas do Rio de Janeiro

Palmetto, Florida -- There will be new opportunities for foreign trade between the U.S. and Brazil now that Port Manatee and Docas do Rio de Janeiro become International Sister Seaports. This also marks the first time a Florida Gulf Coast seaport has entered into such agreement.

On June 4, Jorge Luiz de Mello, president-director of the Rio de Janeiro Port Authority, signed the agreement at a Manatee County Port Authority meeting. Carol Whitmore, chairman of MCPA and Carlos Buqueras, executive director of Port Manatee, will sign on behalf of Port Manatee.

Manatee County, Florida  -- Early voting for the June 18 election ends Saturday, June 15.

Polls are open Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Supervisor of Elections office at 600 301 Blvd. West, Suite 108 in Bradenton. 

In May, the Supervisor of elections office announced "Ballot on Demand" and looked forward to using it during early Voting. “We are excited about this new opportunity and are hoping for a good early voter turnout. This new system will save time for voters” stated Mike Bennett, Supervisor of Elections.

Manatee County, Florida --  Manatee County has an opening for a citizen member on the 2013 Value Adjustment Board which hears appeals regarding denied property tax exemptions, petitions relating to assessments, and appeals concerning ad valorem tax deferrals.

Town hall meeting to meet Superintendent Mills

Bradenton, Florida -- There will be a  "Town Hall Meeting" where residents can meet new Manatee County Schools Superintendent Rick Mills and members of his leadership team.

Superintendent Mills will share his vision and leadership ideas for the Manatee District and will be available for questions and answers. 

It will be held at the Pathway Christian Fellowship Center at 329 6th Avenue West in Bradenton.
