Bradenton, Florida -- The Artful Purpose Art Show and Paws in Motion Walkathon are partnering with the Bradenton Farmers’ Market on March 24 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. to produce a powerful event celebrating the lives of all our animal friends.

Registration for the Paws in Motion Walkathon begins at 9 a.m. and the 1.1 mile pledge walk along the riverfront will start at 10 a.m.   

From 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., vendors showcasing animal artwork and/or animal related products will join the ranks of the 30+ regular Farmers’ Market vendors.

Manatee County, FL -- If you have been thinking about adopting a pet in Manatee County, January may be the month to do it.

All this month Manatee County Animal Services is having "Name Your Price Adoptions," letting you choose how much you want to spend.

The special does not include a $10 rabies certificate/tag fee required for Manatee County residents.

All adopted animals will be spayed/neutered, have a current health check, vaccinations, and a microchip.

Manatee County unanimously adopts  ‘no-kill’ animal policy

Manatee County Commissioners unanimously adopted a No-Kill policy Tuesday which formalizes Manatee’s goal to save as many dogs and cats as possible by achieving 90 percent live release rate.

Kris Weiskopf, Animal Services Chief, said Manatee County is working regularly with animal welfare organizations, animal shelters, the media and the public to increase animal fostering and adoptions, to promote free or low-cost spay/neutering programs, and to promote a trap/neuter/return program for feral cats, public relations and community involvement.

“We are one of the few governments in the country and, I think the first in the state of Florida, that has a no-kill policy approval from the County Commission,” said Commission Chair Carol Whitmore who has pushed Manatee County to become a no-kill community for nearly four years.

County offers $50 off all dog adoption fees in October

Manatee County Animal Services is slashing the adoption fee for dogs for the month of October to commemorate “Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.”

Come celebrate October’s “Howl-O-Ween" with Manatee County Animal Services and adopt any dog for only $40. This is a $50 savings from the regular price of $90.

"We have a great selection of dogs and cats,” said Animal Services Chief Kris Weiskopf. “Help us help the animals by adopting today; every animal deserves a second chance at a good life.”

County Animal Services offers  'long overdue' special for pet adoptions

Manatee County, Florida -- Throughout September Manatee County Animal Services will offer adoption specials on all dogs and cats that have been at the shelter 30 days or longer.

Dogs that have been at the shelter a month or more can be adopted for $30, a $50 savings off the regular adoption fee of $80. Cats can be adopted for $10, normally priced at $60.
