'Officer of the Year' to retire from City of Bradenton Police Department

Bradenton, Florida - After 25 years, Deputy Chief of Police, Keith F. Davis is retiring.

Deputy Chief Davis began his career with the City of Bradenton Police Department as a Parking Enforcement Officer on April 25th, 1988. By July of that year, he was transferred to the Patrol Division where he served until October of 1992, when he was transferred to the Special Investigations Unit.

Manatee County schools' Phoenix Racing wins SAE formula one

Manatee, Florida -- Four students from three Manatee County Schools have just returned to Florida after capturing the USA Society for Automotive Engineers F1 in Schools National Championship. The award came after two days of tough competition against teams from across the nation at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.  Phoenix Racing also won the “Best Engineered Car” award for ingenuity shown in their balsa car design.

Bradenton, Florida -- It's a trip he'll never forget. A local doctor travels to the Dominican Republic to help an under served area.

Dr. David Zamikoff spent four days at the Dario Contreras Hospital. He and four other doctors were part of a team that brought supplies and knowledge to the area which is in desperate need of help.

Bradenton, Florida -- There will be a  "Town Hall Meeting" where residents can meet new Manatee County Schools Superintendent Rick Mills and members of his leadership team.

Superintendent Mills will share his vision and leadership ideas for the Manatee District and will be available for questions and answers. 

It will be held at the Pathway Christian Fellowship Center at 329 6th Avenue West in Bradenton.

Bradenton, Florida -- School Board Chair Karen Carpenter and Superintendent Rick Mills will be guests on a program titled “Seminole Teen Talk” produced by Southeast High School this Thursday, April 25, 2013, beginning at 7 p.m.

Davis of the City of Bradenton Police Department has announced that he will effectively retire on May 24, 2013, concluding twenty-five career service years with the Police Department. His expertise, professionalism and knowledge of law enforcement practices are of the highest level and will be greatly missed.
