BRADENTON, Fla. - Officials with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said they have arrested the man who beat up a father in front of his son in a case of road rage Thursday. He's been identified as 45-year-old John Sabin of Bradenton. Authorities say he turned himself in through his attorney.
According to authorities, it happened in the morning when 50-year-old John Lee was driving his son along River Club Blvd to Braden River Elementary. Lee said he noticed a driver, later identified as Sabin, who seemed impatient and wanted to pass him. Lee said Sabin started tailgating and tried to pass him several times. Lee said Sabin followed him into the school's parking lot, got out of his car, yelled threats at him, and even spit on his car. According to Lee, he stayed in his car until Sabin got back into his. When Lee thought it was over and got out with his son, Sabin allegedly attacked him. Lee said Sabin knocked him down and punched him. It all happened in front of his 10-year-old son. Sabin then took off.
Lee was taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for a broken rib, separated shoulder, partially collapsed lung and multiple cuts.
Sabin is being charged with aggravated battery.
