Quick work earns investigator Officer of the Month for December

Bradenton, Fl. - An investigator's quick work earned him December's Officer of the Month.

Investigator John Morningstar was the primary officer assigned to investigate an Aggravated Battery complaint on November 5 near the Bradenton Riverwalk. The complaint was sent anonomously to the Bradenton Police Department after one of the suspects posted a recording of the violent beating on a social media website.

Within two hours, Investigator Morningstar found the victim and got him immediate assistance. He determined the victim has a diminished mental capacity. That same afternoon, Investigator Morningstar obtained investigative intelligence from a concerned citizen, which led to the ID's of all the suspects involved in the crime.

Within 18 hours of the initial incident, the remaining two suspects turned themselves in. All three suspects were charged with one count of Aggravated Abuse of a Disabled Adult.

“It is pretty remarkable that Investigator Morningstar was able to bring some closure to the victim of this crime in less than eighteen hours, when all he had to work with initially was an anonymous video-recording. His actions speak highly of his dedication to the citizens of the City of Bradenton," says Deputy Chief Warren Merriman.

Investigator Morningstar was named Officer of the Month for December 2013.
