Bradenton, Florida -- Now that the government shutdown is over, De Soto National Memorial is re-open to visitors.

You can access public areas and roads immediately while facilities and other public services are brought back online. All areas of parks trails, its Visitor Center and Museum are all open to the public. Daily and weekly tours and operations are up and running for public enjoyment.

“We are excited happy to be back at work and welcome visitors to De Soto National Memorial,” said Superintendent Jorge Acevedo. “Autumn is a particularly special season to enjoy all that De Soto National Memorial has to offer.”

Ranger led Kayak tours and trail walks will begin again this weekend. In December, Camp Uzita, the 16th Century living history village and demonstration area will open on schedule for daily performances on December 7th.

De Soto National Memorial has been closed since October 1 because of the lapse in congressional appropriations.
