Stabbing suspect admits he wasn't just serving pie
News

Bradenton, Florida - Last November, Bradenton Police Department responded to what appeared to be an accidental stabbing at the Carlton Arms Apartments.

The female victim, 18, was unconscious and bleeding from a cut artery in her neck.  After being treated, she told police she was laying on a sofa when she felt a sharp pain in her neck.  Joshua L. Woolley, 19, told investigators that he was serving her a piece of pie while holding a fork and steak knife, and that he fell, accidentally cutting the victim's throat severing an artery and rendering her unable to speak.

Police say the victim called 911, but Woolley took the phone away from her and disconnected the call.   Bradenton's 911 operators re-contacted the cell phone and were able to immediately respond by sending officers and emergency medical personnel.

While he was being held in the Manatee County jail on unrelated charges, Woolley told officials that he had gotten away with attempted murder.  So on March 21, 2011, the Bradenton Police Department charged Mr. Woolley with one count of Attempted Murder.
