FDLE completes investigation into Sheena Morris case

Tampa, Florida - It's been a long road for Kelly Osborn, filled with sleepless nights, grief and worry.

Osborn's daughter, Sheena Morris, was found dead in a hotel room on Anna Maria island several years ago. It was ruled a suicide in 2009 by the Bradenton Beach police department.

However, Osborn always believed it was murder.  Sheena was with her boyfriend Joe Genoese at the time and witnesses say the two fought that night.  Osborn believes Joe murdered her daughter, however, Genoese was never charged.

In fact, he went on the Dr. Phil Show, along with Sheena's family.  Genoese said he did the show to maintain his innocence.

"Sheena was a happy and beautiful girl with big dreams. She never would have killed herself. She had so much to live for."

Osborn fought tirelessly to have the case reopened, and she has now won her fight. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement just completed a 10-month investigation into Sheena's case. Prosecutor Art Brown has the files and findings, which he calls "voluminous."  It will be several weeks before a decision is made on whether Sheena's death was murder or suicide.

Bradenton Beach Police Chief Sam Speciale has long since said this was a suicide. Osborn is holding out hope that the findings from FDLE will show otherwise.

On the day the FDLE reopened its investigation Osborn told 10 News, "I am ecstatic about today. All I can say is Sheena's case is in great hands. I'm proud to be a resident of Florida.  It's been a long road. My faith restored!"
