Ellenton man shoots neighbor's pit bull

ELLENTON, Florida -- A man had to shoot a neighbor's pit bull after he said it became aggressive toward him and his wife.

The dog was running loose in Stephen Parasian's backyard, according to the Manatee Co. Sheriff's Office. Parasian and his wife left through the front door and headed toward a neighbor's house armed with a pistol. That's when the dog allegedly charged them.

Parasian shot the dog in the head. The sheriff's office said the pit bull initially dropped, then lunged at the couple a second time. Parasian reportedly shot the dog a second time, killing it.

No one was injured. The sheriff's office has notified the dog's owner.
