Bradenton, Florida -- Manatee County residents are offered a unique glimpse into local government next week as part of Manatee’s annual celebration of National County Government Month.

Throughout April Manatee County is highlighting public safety and wellness tips during Smart Justice Month, the theme of this year’s National Association of Counties’ annual County Government Month. Manatee’s myriad public safety-related and wellness programs are being highlighted on the county’s website throughout the month and a series of behind-the-scenes tours will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The County will host an April 24 Smart Justice showcase on the front lawn of Manatee County Historic Courthouse. From noon until 2 p.m., Manatee County Government departments, the Clerk of the Circuit Courts Office and Manatee County Health Department will set up displays highlighting their contributions to a safer community.

“Each year during County Government Month we try to bring government a little closer to the people we serve,” said Community Services Director Brenda Rogers who heads up County Government Month activities. “For Smart Justice Month we want to give people a first hand look at how we’re serving this community to make it a safer, healthier place to live.”
