Sweetbay closes 33 underperforming stores today | News
Tampa, Florida -- Sweetbay is moving up the closing date of 33 underperforming stores throughout the state due to lack of inventory.
The closure plan initially called for a mid-February closure, but sales that slashed prices by as much as 75% toward the end cleared the shelves, so all 33 will close for good on Wednesday.
Several closed earlier this week, while the rest close today.
Sweetbay says the closures are allowing them to focus on the 72 remaining stores within the company.
2,000 employees are losing their job as a result of the closures.
