Woman crashes vehicle while being pursued by deputy | News
Bradenton, Florida -- A woman was hospitalized late Monday night after she crashed her vehicle as she was being pursued by a Manatee Sheriff's deputy.
The deputy reported around 11:20 p.m., he saw Michelle Haddad run a red light on SR 70 at Lakewood Ranch Boulevard while heading east at speeds of about 65 mph. As the deputy tried to catch up to Haddad, he saw her swerve over three lanes and run another red light at SR 70 and Lorraine Road.
Attempts to pull her over were unsuccessful as the deputy continued to follow her even as she sped up to about 80 mph and continued to swerve between eastbound and westbound lanes. Due to the fact the deputy reported there was very light traffic in the area, he continued to pursue the car.
At times, the deputy said Haddad's vehicle drove off the road and into the grass. Haddad continued east on SR 70 for approximately three-tenths of a mile before she drove into a ditch and rolled her vehicle onto its roof.
Haddad, 30, was taken to Blake Medical Center where she was upgraded to a trauma patient. As of 1:15 a.m., she was listed in stable condition.
It is not known at this time if Haddad was under the influence at the time of the crash.
