High-speed chase leads to crash in Palmetto

PALMETTO, Fla. -- Three people are in the hospital and facing charges after leading deputies on a high-speed chase in Manatee County that ended in an accident, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says it received reports of a drive-by shooting in the 2800 block of 6th Street East Bradenton Saturday afternoon. About 30 minutes later, the vehicle allegedly involved in the first shooting was spotted by law enforcement committing another drive-by on 30th Ave. East.

Authorities say they chased the suspects over the DeSoto Bridge into Palmetto, where the suspects' vehicle struck another car at the intersection of U.S. 301 and 17th St. East.

The three suspects were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Two people in the other vehicle also suffered non life-threatening injuries and were also taken to the hospital.
