Police search for man posing as Child Protection Specialist

Bradenton, FL -- Bradenton Police are looking for the man who showed up at a home posing as a Child Protection Specialist Monday.

According to detectives, around 12:15 p.m., the man knocked on the door of the home in the 2600 block of 7th Ave. W. and identified himself as a CPS employee.

The man told the person who answered he was there to check on the welfare of the child at the home. When the resident asked for ID, the man became nervous and fled the area in his car.

The man is described as a white man, 5'6" and 5'8", 115-130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a tan polo shirt, tan pants and a tan baseball cap. He was seen driving an older model brown 4-door Cadillac with dark-tinted windows and no tag.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Bradenton Police Department at 932-9357.  Child Protection is under the Manatee County Sheriff's Office and CPS employees always have identification readily available. Citizens are encouraged to asked for identification.
