Bradenton, Fl - The Bradenton Manatee Hurricanes rallied late and then their defense made a critical 4th down stop to hold on for a 19-14 win over the Dwyer Panthers, in a Class 7A state semifinal game, Friday night.

Dwyer quarterback Faton Bauta had a big game, rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

After Bauta's first touchdown, gave Dwyer a 7-0 lead, it was Manatee's defense that got the Canes on board.   Junior defensive back Willie Smith scooped up a loose ball and ran 52 yards for the score.

After a missed extra point, Dwyer lead at the half 7-6.

In the third quarter, Antonio Agurs, made up for an fumble on Manatee's first series, scored on a two yard run, giving the Canes their first lead.

After another touchdown run by Bauta, the Canes were trailing 14-13, with six minutes remaining in the game.   Manatee then put together a 63-yard drive, with quarterback Cord Sandberg running in for a 21 yard score, giving the Canes a 19-14 lead with two minutes remaining.

For the second time in three years, Manatee (12-2) will play for a state title, facing Jacksonville First Coast (14-0), next Friday night in Orlando.
