Anna Maria, Florida -- Eating locally grown produce is taking on a whole new meaning in Anna Maria. There is now a spot known as "The Greenest Little Main Street in America."

Landscape designer and native habitat expert, Michael Miller, along with Pine Avenue Restoration developers Ed Chiles and Micheal Coleman have partnered with Pine Avenue Merchants to design and implement Edible Community Gardens on Pine Avenue.

New Medicine Community at Health Park East is launching a "food as medicine" series called, "Eat Your Way Out Of Pain." The second part of the series will take place Tuesday, August 13th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. 

On August 6th, clinical nutritionist, Paulette Weber hosted the first in the series, "The Truth About Sugar." She shared the truth about how foods can cause pain and how foods can help to reduce and eliminate pain.

First-of-its-kind residency program in Florida begins at Manatee Glens Hospital

First-of-its-kind residency program in Florida begins at Manatee Glens Hospital

Bradenton, Florida -- The first residents will begin at the LECOM/Manatee Glens Hospital Psychiatry Residency program. It's the first private, non-profit psychiatric hospital to have its own medical residency program, which was just approved by the American Osteopathic Association. 

The first three residents will begin in the summer of 2014 and will stay for four years. Manatee Glens will add residents each year until there are 12 total.

Kids ages 8-12 may attend with an adult present, and after attending a Youth Orientation class. Members 13-18 may attend upon completion of the Teen Orientation Class.

Family Friendly Classes include: Yogalates, Yogo, and Pilates

Bradenton, Florida -- The Wear Your Soul Foundation will award twenty 9-14 year old children a day-long Wear Your Soul Experience.

The fun and challenging treetop obstacle course experience will be followed by lunch and a motivational talk. The program was conceived by  Ostaszewski, 44, a semifinalist from the hit TV show, The Biggest Loser, and his brother Henry.
