Mother of shooting victim: Deputies actions not justified

Sarasota, Florida - The mother of a Bradenton man shot and killed by Sarasota Deputies this week spoke only to 10 News. The shooting happened during a routine traffic stop around 9:30 Monday evening at the intersection of Washington Court and 29th Street.

Tonight Rodney's mother has many questions but few answers from sheriff officials. But in her heart, she believes deputies overreacted and it cost her son's life.

Bradenton, Florida--Primrose School at Lakewood Ranch, families demonstrated their commitment to making a difference in Bradenton. 

During the month of May, the school held a “Basket Bazaar” Spring Fling fundraiser to help make giving back a top priority in the local community and raise money to support two worthwhile causes.

This year’s event raised $1,508.00 which will be split between Mothers Helping Mothers and the Primrose Children’s Foundation, both not-for-profit organizations that support the needs of children and families.

Oneco, Florida - A Bay area woman's only son is the first soldier from Manatee County to be killed in the war in Iraq.

Despite her heartbreaking grief year after year she's rounded up people to honor Florida's servicemen and women who've made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This year was no different.

Jarrett Givens was one of several young people who gathered Saturday morning at the American Legion Post 312 at 1610 67th Avenue East in Oneco.

Hundreds of teens and parents expected for teen summit (may 23)

Bradenton, Florida -- More than 300 middle school students and parents are expected to take part in the 2012 Manatee Teen Summit.

The event is scheduled for May 23, from 2:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at Manatee High School.

Former American Idol finalist Syesha Mercado will be the keynote speaker.

The summit is not open to the general public. It is only open middle school students in the Manatee County School District.

Marauders return home for 19 games in May

Bradenton, Florida -- The Bradenton Marauders return home to McKechnie Field Tuesday night for the first of 19 home games in the month of May.

Included in those games are a number of promotions, including Wednesday night's "Plunder Your Hunger" night. Fans can eat off the all-you-can-eat-menu all game long.

Thursday night, the Marauders will host "Bark in the Park," where dogs can attend the game with their owners for an extra $2.

Marauders to host on-field Easter egg hunt

Bradenton, Florida-- The Bradenton Marauders will give fans a chance to celebrate Easter in a unique way.

The team will hold an on-field Easter egg hunt  on Friday at 5:45 p.m., just before the team's game at McKechnie Field.

Fans are asked to bring their own baskets.

The hunts are broken up into 7 & under and 8-13 years old age groups.

Kids are free to participate with a ticket to the game.
