Attendees can learn from the experts how to reduce waste, use water wisely, protect our natural resources and improve our urban forest. Bring the whole family for giveaways and activities to help keep Manatee County beautiful. 

Earth Day exhibitors include De Soto National Memorial, Florida Forest Service, Keep Manatee Beautiful, Manatee County Agriculture & Extension Service, Manatee County Recycling and Manatee County Water Conservation.

Florida State Parks announces new, free mobile app

Florida-- Trees, lakes, trails, wildlife- they're all things that come to mind when thinking about Florida's parks. Techonology, smartphones and applications, howeverm are probably the last things to come to mind- until now!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.

The Manatee County Agriculture and Extension Service is offering a variety of free educational classes for January 2013.  

The Extension Service is an educational program within county government which brings the resources of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) to Manatee County to: 

  • solve local problems,
  • provide educational opportunities,
  • promote economic enhancement and development
  • improve the quality of life for all of our citizens

Robinson family releases statement on Robinson Preserve expansion

Manatee County, Florida -- The Robinson family of Manatee County, the original donors of the land that has now become Robinson Preserve, released a statement Thursday thanking everyone involved in facilitating the approval, sale and closing of the last 150 acres of the park, which will mean an expansion of the popular preserve in the county.

Bradenton, Florida -- This Saturday, Nov. 17, South Florida Museum will host “Music Under the (Digital) Stars” in the Bishop Planetarium.

The Sarasota String Quartet will play nature-themed classical selections in the all-digital Bishop Planetarium Theater.

This event is free to the public and a great opportunity to experience the Sarasota String Quartet in a unique setting. Seating is limited.

Manatee County’s favorite location for bird watching, hiking and photography, Robinson Preserve, may to grow by 150 acres without costing local taxpayers a dime under an agreement unanimously approved by County Commissioners today.
