Lithia, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department temporarily closed the Lithia Springs swimming area.

They say recent rainfall has left elevated levels of bacteria in the water. They will do another round of water testing on Monday, June 17, and if no elevated levels are found, the Lithia Springs swimming area will be reopened.

Signs have been posted, and staff is on duty to monitor and alert the public of the health advisory. But even though you can't swim, you can still camp, picnic and use the playground.

The Lithia Springs Regional Park is located at 3932 Lithia Springs Road in Lithia.
