Six weeks, six themes of summer camps at South Florida Museum

Bradenton, Florida -- Just because it's summer, doesn't mean your kids have to stop learning. South Florida Museum Summer Science Camps will be a fun and interesting way for them to spend their break.

The camps are six weeks long, each focusing on different scientific themes from geology and engineering to forensic science and cosmic science. The camps will take place in the Museum classroom, the Museum itself, the Planetarium and Aquarium from June 11 through July 19. The camps are open to students entering grades 2-6.

The camps will be taught by Manatee County teacher, Sarah Hammock. "Sarah is such a talented educator. In one summer, she exposes the kids to more science, technology, engineering and math than they get in full year of school. The best part is that they're having so much fun they don't even realize that they're learning," says Jeff Rodgers, Museum Director of Education.

Camps are $180 per session for Museum members are $225 for non-members. Kids can sign up for one week of a particular topic, or the whole summer! There is financial assistance available to subsidize fees. Call the museum at 941-746-4131 ext 13 for more information.
