Man attacks child's mother in home, takes off

Bradenton, Florida -- Manatee County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who attacked the mother of his child and has threatened to harm himself.

Authorities say around 3:40 Thursday morning, 30-year-old Bruce Nolet entered the woman's home, in the 500 block of 67th Avenue W, without her permission and threw her down on the bed and choked her from behind. A neighbor who heard the incident went inside causing Nolet to stop the attack.

Bradenton, Florida --  Friday evening, April 12, the Florida Highway Patrol ran Operation P.E.D.S.

The enforcement detail focused on pedestrian, bicycle and motorist violations at or near intersections.

Cops: Juvenile in custody for shots fired near school

Bradenton, Florida -- UPDATE: Manatee County officials have found one of two suspects in a shooting that took place outside Johnson Middle School Friday. 

They say the juvenile they have in custody is an accomplice, and that the shooter is still on the loose.

2 members of dangerous street gang each get 15 years

Bradenton, Florida -- Two members of Bradenton's SUR-13 criminal street gang will join fellow members behind bars for a substantial amount of time for gang-related activity. 

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Wednesday 27-year-old Danny "Boom" Robledo pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy to engage in racketeering and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. 

2 sought in cruise package scam

Bradenton, Florida -- Bradenton Police are searching for two men wanted in connection with a cruise package scam.

Detectives say they were recently contacted by victims who claim they were sold fraudulent cruise packages from the two men identified as 25-year-old Dale Lucas and 22-year-old Todd Kelley. 

The men, who dressed in collared shirts and khaki pants or shorts, told the victims they were authorized to sell the packages on behalf of a well-known Internet site and presented laminated marketing materials.

35 arrested in child sex sting

Bradenton, Florida -- A week-long undercover sting operation resulted in the arrest of 35 people on various child sex charges in Manatee County.

During Operation Green Shepherd II, Manatee Sheriff's detectives went online in various undercover capacities and set up meeting with the suspects at an undercover home. The suspects were arrested after they showed up at the home with the intention of meeting up with a minor for sex.

Bradenton Police warn of telephone scam

Bradenton, Florida -- Bradenton police want to warn you about a telephone scam in the area.

They received a tip from a woman who got a call from someone claiming she had an unpaid parking citation with the City of Bradenton. She said the caller spoke in a foreign accent and told her an arrest warrant would be issued if she didn't pay the parking ticket immediately. Police say the caller then told the woman to be sure to call them back from their same number when she was ready to make a payment over the phone. The call came from a 866 toll-free prefix.
