2 fly to state to commit credit card fraud

Sarasota, Florida -- Two people from New York, who traveled to Florida solely to commit fraud, have been arrested.

According to reports, a Walmart loss prevention officer contacted deputies on Aug. 6 to report that the suspicious pair tried to buy gift cards at the North Port store and then the Cattlemen Road location, but left when they were asked for ID. They pair was later found in a rental vehicle at Burlington Coat Factory in Sarasota.

2 arrested in Bradenton burglary spree

Bradenton, Florida -- Two men on a burglary spree in Bradenton are behind bars Wednesday.

On July 24, Manatee Sheriff's deputies were notified of two burglaries that occurred minutes apart at homes in the northwest area of the city in the 1600 block of 71st Street NW and the 7700 block of 20th Avenue NW. 

Luckily, both homes which were vacant at the time had alarm systems notifying police of the break-ins and scared the men off.

A witness told deputies the burglars were driving around in a white work van posing as construction workers.

Elderly man arrested for sexting, meeting up with teen for sex

Bradenton, Florida -- Following an undercover operation, a 71-year-old man was arrested for sending explicit text messages and attempting to meet up with who he thought was a 15-year-old boy.

Bradenton Police say detectives first became aware of Raymond Robarge's intentions when they were told by two young men he had approached them in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue West on July 18 and engaged them in an inappropriate conversation.

Arrest made in sexual assault of 5-year-old

Sarasota, Florida -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says deputies have arrested the man they believe sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl on Monday.

The Sarasota Police Department helped Manatee deputies locate the man, identified as 36-year-old Dominick Hawkins. Investigators suspected he had fled to Sarasota, after a bus driver said the suspect tried to get on following the attack, yelling he needed a ride to Sarasota.

Bradenton Police investigate man's murder

Bradenton, Florida -- Bradenton Police officers are investigating the death of a man found with severe head trauma in a neighborhood on 7th Avenue East.

Officers say when they arrived at the scene around 9:15 a.m. on July 17, they found the body of 23-year-old Michael Wesley.

Bradenton, Florida -- Now groups who want to have a guest speaker from the Bradenton Police Department.

The Bradenton Police Department has formed a Public Speaking Bureau which will allow any civic/citizen group the ability to request a guest speaker from the Bradenton Police Department on any subject matter related to Public Safety. 

The requested or assigned speaker will provide the group a 15-20 minute presentation on the requested subject matter, and will entertain questions at the conclusion of the presentation.
