Man with suspicious device plotted to blow up family, witnesses say

Bradenton, Florida -- A homeless man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly told two people he planned to blow up his family and showed them the device he made to do it.

The two citizens went to Bradenton Police after they say Corey Wagoner told them he was having issues with his family and how he was going to harm them. During the conversation, Wagoner opened up his backpack and showed them the device he created to "blow them up".

Arrest made, Olympic gold medal found

Bradenton, Florida -- Bradenton Police have made an arrest in the theft of Demetrius Pinder's Olympic gold medal on Sept. 11.

The 24-karat gold medal, that hangs from a purple lanyard and has images representing the 2012 London Olympiad on both sides with 4x400m inscribed on the bottom portion of the front side, was stolen from his truck after he accidentally left it in the center console.

Elderly man fires shotgun into home over $30, police say

Bradenton, Florida -- A 65-year-old man was arrested after he fired a shotgun into a Bradenton home Thursday night.

Witnesses called deputies around 7 p.m. about a man outside a home in the 6500 block of 3rd Avenue NE breaking windows and shooting into the home.

When deputies arrived, they found Howard Walls standing outside the home with a double-barreled shotgun in his hands. After being ordered to drop the shotgun multiple times, he finally complied.

Community celebrates recovery of 4-year-old shot in head

Bradenton, Florida -- Friends and family celebrated four-year-old Davien Martinez's healthy and happy life on Labor Day afternoon in Bradenton.

Davien has been in a hospital bed in St. Petersburg for the last several weeks recovering from a gunshot wound through his head and face.

"I heard the glass break and then I heard the bullet go passed my ear and then it went into his frontal lobe in his brain, and through his eye and lodged in his jaw," said his mother Diana Lopez.

Woman arrested after moving family into vacant home

Riverview, Florida -- A woman has been arrested for living in another person's home for seven months.

Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies say on Feb. 15, Jeanella Pollock moved into the home on Potomac Circle with her husband and teenage daughter, even though the home belonged to a woman currently living in Alabama. 

"The defendant had in fact changed the locks and she had applied for and was granted the name of the power and water into her name as well," said Larry McKinnon of the Hillsborough Co. Sheriff's Office.

8-year-old girl nearly abducted

Bradenton, Florida -- A Manatee County 8-year-old girl was almost taken away from her family and deputies are still searching for the man who tried to do it.

At 8:40 Tuesday night, a large black truck with tinted windows and 20-24 inch rims, and chrome steps mounted under the cab approached Dixie Perkins as she was playing on the grass lot next to her house.

Dixie was playing tag with her best friend who was on the front porch "on base" waiting for Dixie to come to it.
