Deputy arrested for DUI after crashing into street sign
Crime

Bradenton, Florida -- In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 26, an off-duty Manatee County Sheriff's deputy was pulled over in a pickup truck on U.S. 301 in Parrish for suspicion of DUI.

The sheriff's office says the arresting deputy reported 27-year-old Kevin White suffered from bloodshot, watery, glassy eyes and slurred speech when he was pulled over. When asked to conduct a field sobriety test, he refused. He also reportedly refused a breath sample at the jail.

Witnesses say White's truck was seen fleeing the scene after hitting a street sign in the area just before he was pulled over.

White, 27, was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.

White has been a patrol deputy with the sheriff's office since 2008. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.
