Teen causes multiple crashes driving erratically in stolen truck

Bradenton, Florida -- A teenager on a reckless driving spree was caught by deputies after they say he caused over a half dozen accidents on and around the Cortez Bridge Tuesday morning.

Authorities say the boy was driving a stolen F-350 erratically through west Bradenton as Manatee Sheriff's deputies and Bradenton Beach Police tried to stop him. He was eventually caught on the Cortez Bridge.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in the crashes.

15-year-old shot and killed on Bradenton street

Bradenton, Florida -- A 15-year-old boy was killed after he was shot on a Bradenton street Thursday evening.

Police say they received a call of gunshots in the 2500 block of 13th Avenue East around 8:55 p.m. When they arrived, they found Dakota Smith lying the roadway. He died at the scene.

Smith's neighbor Charles Price says witnesses told him they saw two men chasing Dakota and as he ran home and they shot him.

"He was walking through the park they were chasing him. He jumped over the fence they shot him," Price says.

Man caught impersonating homeland security officer

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police officers have busted a Palmetto man for impersonating an officer.

Jonathan Stevens, 24, was driving a Chevy Tahoe with flashing red and blue emergency lights. 

Police say he activated those lights to stop a Tampa officer so he could report a reckless driver at 17th Street N and 7th Avenue E.

They say he claimed to be a homeland security officer and had a gun and badge around his neck.

Stevens later admitted it was all a lie and he doesn't even have a concealed weapons permit.

Student attacks classmate with scissors

Bradenton, Florida -- A 13-year-old middle school student was arrested Monday after police say he cut two students with a pair of scissors.

Manatee Sheriff's deputies say around 2:30 p.m. Monday, the Lee Middle School student attacked a classmate during an art class.

That student was cut on the neck and another, who tried to intervene, was cut on the hand. Both received medical attention at the school for minor injuries.

Mom passes out in car with son in back seat after doing 'whippets'

Bradenton, Florida -- A 29-year-old mother has been charged with child neglect after she was found passed out in her car with numerous canisters used to do "whippets" while her child was in the back seat.

Sarasota Police officers say a passerby noticed Jennifer Ann Lee was asleep at the wheel at the intersection of University Parkway and North Tamiami Trail. In the back seat, her one-year-old son was also reportedly asleep. The passerby offered to drive her and her son to a safe location and Lee agreed.

Man who violently attacked ex-girlfriend sought

Bradenton, Florida -- Deputies are searching for a Bradenton man who is accused of violently attacking his ex-girlfriend early Sunday morning.

Manatee Sheriff's deputies say on Nov. 17, at approximately 3:30 a.m., they received a call regarding a domestic battery at a home in the 6000 block of 11th St Ct. E.

When they arrived, Irma Andino, 29, told deputies she was attacked by her former boyfriend and father of her child, 31-year-old German Vasquez.

Manatee High's baseball coach resigns amid investigation

Bradenton, Florida -- Manatee High School's athletic program is back in the spotlight.

First, they dealt with the Rod Frazier scandal which resulted in the resignation of several administrators and suspension of three others.
