Bradenton, Florida -- Summer is a difficult time of year for the Food Bank of Manatee. Food donations decrease considerably at the same time the demand increases. There are two upcoming events when you can help "White Out Hunger" and fill its shelves.

On Thursday, May 30th, guest bartenders Amanda and John Horne, Chris Whittaker and David Scherer will entertain and pour drinks with tips going to the food bank's campaign. The event will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Halfway at Anna Maria Oyster Bar "Landslide" at 6906 14th Street West in Bradenton.

Then, on June 6th, the "White Out Hunger" party will take place at a private home on Palm Sola Bay. Tickets are $50 which gets you cocktails and heavy hors d'oeuvres. There will also be raffles and live music. Buy tickets at foodbankofmanatee.org calling 941-749-0100. If you attend, be sure to wear white to show support for hunger prevention efforts. All of the proceeds benefit The Food Bank of Manatee.

“These are going to be fun events for a serious issue here in Manatee County.  We are so thankful to Chris, David, Amanda, and John for offering their time to help our community with the basic necessity of food,” says Maribeth Phillips, CEO of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee, which operates The Food Bank of Manatee.
