4th Annual 'Stuff the Bus' event this weekend | Community Spirit
Bradenton, Florida -- This weekend, the Manatee County School District is asking for the public's help to Stuff the Bus for a fourth year and feed hungry children in the community.
The district says there are more than 2,000 children in the county school system that are homeless and unsure of how they are going to get their next meal.
The event will be held at all county Publix supermarkets from 9 a.m. until dark on Saturday, Nov. 17 and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m on Sunday, Nov. 18.
“What started as an idea from a few employees in the School Transportation Department has become one of the largest community efforts to help The Food Bank of Manatee to feed children and families in need,” said Scott Martin, Assistant Superintendent, School District Support Services. “With the holiday season approaching, we encourage everyone to come together and give food to help those less fortunate.”
The Manatee School District is partnering with Publix, Tropicana, FM radio stations 106.5 CTQ and 92.1 The Coast, and United Way of Manatee County for the initiative.
