Bradenton, Florida -- The South Florida Museum says an estimated 3,500 people attended Snooty's Birthday Bash at the South Florida Museum on July 21, including those who participated in the live online broadcast of Snooty's "Happy Birthday" song.

Some also shared their birthday wishes on Facebook as well, including Seana Frint and her family in Illinois.

Hundreds of children from Pre-K through 6th grade also participated in the Snooty birthday card contest associated with the bash.

Citizens can still continue to help Snooty, the manatee, and his friends, through The Ripple Effect campaign. The South Florida Museum is challenging the entire community to help them reach their goal of raising $10,000. The Museum encourages visitors and the general public to donate by phone at 941-746-4131, ext. 35 or in person at the Museum or online at www.southfloridamuseum.org.

“Our biggest challenge is raising money for daily operations, such as maintaining the complex water and filtration systems and a well-stocked food cooler,” said Brynne Anne Besio, executive director of the South Florida Museum, in a release. “Knowing that 40 percent of Museum visitors come primarily for Snooty and the manatees, we hope those interested in protecting the species will support this campaign. With The Ripple Effect, we hope the community will rally behind the Museum—as they have so many times in the past—and together make a bigger splash in manatee conservation efforts.”
