Bradenton, Florida -- Neal Communities has contributed $1,500 to the 2013 Empty Bowls luncheon as an Artisan Sponsor. The Food Bank of Manatee County hosts the annual event and proceeds raised help local children, families and seniors in need.

“Just as we care about the homes we build in our communities, we also care about the people who live in our communities. Too many people are in need, and we believe in helping whenever possible,” said Neal Communities’ President, Pat Neal. “The Food Bank of Manatee County does great things for families in need, and we are grateful for the opportunity to sponsor this event.”

Guests at the luncheon events enjoy a variety of soup donated by local restaurants; the meal of soup and bread symbolizes the need of neighbors and how the local community can work together to fulfill that need. Last year, The Food Bank of Manatee distributed 3.8 million pounds of food to families in Manatee County and this year they hope to surpass four million pounds.

“We typically raise around $20,000 for The Food Bank of Manatee through the Empty Bowls fundraiser. This year, the need is even greater so we hope to surpass that number,” said Cindy Sloan, Director of The Food Bank of Manatee. “We appreciate the support of Neal Communities in our efforts to fight hunger in Manatee County.”

Empty Bowls 2013 will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on both Friday, October 18, at Renaissance on 9th near downtown Bradenton, and on Saturday, October 19, on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch.  To get involved, or to find more information and purchase tickets, visit: http://www.foodbankofmanatee.org/sponsorship.php.
