Music on Main kicks off the new month

Lakewood Ranch, Florida -- Main Street at Lakewood Ranch will host its monthly "Music on Main" concert this Friday from 6-9pm. "Mumbo Jumbo" will take the stage playing Country and Classic Rock music. The Foundation for Dreams, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide fun, educational, and recreational experiences in an outdoor camp environment to enhance the lives of children ages 7-17 with physical and developmental disabilities and serious illnesses.

Its program operates throughout the year, and provides weekend camps, family camps and week-long summer camp sessions. Programs are specifically designed to cater to the needs of the special children they serve. For additional information, please visit the website: www.foundationfordreams.org.

Check out the fountain area for some extra activities, with a visit from the balloon twister, face painting, Aggie Originals' caricature art and BOUNCE U providing a basketball toss. Stroll around and enjoy the exquisite shops and restaurants, or play a round of golf while you enjoy the music!

Palmetto students get surreal in St. Pete

Palmetto students get surreal in St. Pete

Palmetto, Florida -- After receiving grant money for arts programming for students, Palmetto High School has been making the most of their Art Department's new resources. For starters, a portion of the $3,823 grant from the Leslie Margaret Weller Arts Education program funded a fun-filled field trip to the world-renowned Salvador Dali museum that just re-opened in St. Pete.

The surrealist painter's masterpieces fill the uniquely architectured space, allowing students to see some of the world's most celebrated art in person on their recent visit. The PHS art students will even apply his style in their own classrooms this semester, when an upper level 3-D class starts crafting a ceramic totem pole using a surrealist art style, like Dali's, that will ultimately be welded onto a fence pole permanently at the end of the project.
