Students put Wicked Witch on trial this weekend

Bradenton, Florida -- You can see the Wicked Witch on trial in Bradenton this weekend.

Students at Braden River High School will put on a performance of "Trial of the Wicked Witch" on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the BRHS Auditorium.

Students can purchase through the cast.

Bradenton, Florida -- Bradenton's getting ready for the blues. On Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Realize Bradenton will host the 2012 Bradenton Blues Festival, a family-friendly day of inspired blues music, food and art at the redesigned Riverwalk, along the Manatee River in downtown Bradenton.

The Sarasota String Quartet will play nature-themed classical selections in the all-digital Bishop Planetarium Theater.

This event is free to the public and a great opportunity to experience the Sarasota String Quartet in a unique setting. Seating is limited.

Bradenton, Florida -- The public is invited to attend an exhibit and art sale featuring Robert Butler – one of the famed Florida Highwaymen – at Palm View Elementary this Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Author Tim Dorsey to speak at SCF Venice Writing Club event

Bradenton, Florida -- State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a discussion and book signing by author Tim Dorsey on Thursday, Aug. 23.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, building 800, Selby Room.

Dorsey, author of Florida-based mystery novels, will discuss his writing experience and his works, including his most recent novel, “Pineapple Grenade”. He will sign books following the event, and some books will be available for sale.
